The project initially encompassed the reconfiguration and enhancement of an existing dwelling previously converted from an old agricultural building.
The scope of works required the retention and enhancement of the existing structure, together with the conversion of ancillary buildings to provide additional detached residential accommodation and a home office.
A subsequent ‘second phase’ single storey glazed family / garden room extension with sedum roof finish was added to the rear of the building.
Robert Rigby Architects was briefed to design, plan and carry out the conversion of these old farm buildings into a new Main dwelling together with an ancillary residential conversion of the adjacent barn and the conversion of the existing garage building into a home office.
The bold use of modern materials creates some very contemporary looking buildings that make the best use of the original living spaces while projecting them out to make the most of their beautiful setting.
Features include a living roof to reduce the environmental impact of the conversion and to help integrate the modern structures into a rural setting.
